Strike interferes with shipments to Canada
Friday, June 17, 2011 – Due to the Canadian Postal Strike, Canada Post has informed the U.S. Postal Service that the suspension of mail delivery to Canadian addresses will last until at least next week.
With this notification, USPS will stop accepting all letters and packages destined to Canada with the exception of Global Express Guaranteed (GXG) Shipments at 11:59 p.m., CST, Saturday, June 18.
Monday, June 20 Update – USPS Info on Canada Post strike: USPS is NOT ACCEPTING mail destined for Canada as of Sat, June 18 with the exception of Global Express Guaranteed (GXG) shipments. The Canadian Government is scheduled to make a decision on back-to-work legislation at some point today (Monday, 6/20). Once Canada Post announces when they will resume operations, the USPS will again accept mail destined to Canada.
